For me, to rehumanize mathematics means we know we are not inventing something new, that we have teachers all around us to remind us of how to both affirm some of our basic instincts, and also center womxn, queer folx, and BIPOC in ways that does not suggest there is a universal mathematics that can ignore “place-based” ways of knowing or that assumes everyone will assimilate under one umbrella.
